The municipal pool in Rians

During July and August, the municipal pool in Rians is open every day between 10-13 and 15-19. The pool is located about 350 m from the house and is very nice. It has a small café where you can buy drinks and ice cream. Tight swimsuits are a must for boys/men, buy in Sweden or at Sport 2000 in Saint Maximin (the ones with long legs are ok).

Esparron du Verdon

Besides the Riviera we recommend going up to Esparron de Verdon. It takes about 50 min from Rians and it is a very nice day trip. Esparron has a cliffs but there are also child-friendly pebble beaches.

Gorges du Verdon and Lac de Ste Croix

A nice trip is to go to Moustier’s St Marie for lunch and then rent a pedal boat and swim in the Gorges du Verdon (Grand Canyon) in the afternoon. During the high season we recommend to to it the other way around, you go to Gorges du Verdon in the morning (can be difficult to get on a pedal boat in the afternoon), especially in July and August.

Peyrolles

The small village of Peyrolles, 20-25 minutes from Rians, has a small artificial lake, Lac de Peyrolles, where you can swim if you do not want to go that far. There is a café where you can have a coffee, sandwich or an ice-cream, there are also a lot of fun activities for kids!

The pearls on the Riviera

Cassis is the closes town along the French Riviera from Rians. In addition to the fine pebble beach, there are also small cozy restaurants around the harbor. It is cozy little town that can be visited even if it is not bathing season.

Le Lavandou is our own favorite spot on the Riviera (the beach, Plage de St Clair), but remember to go early in the morning to get a good spot and avoid the tourists on the roads. It takes 1.5 hours to Le Lavandou. We also recommend Plage l’Estagnol, may be a new favorite! Perfect for small children.

Another advice for a daytrip is to visit the island of Porquerolles and the beach of Plage de la Notre Dame. By the way, we read in a magazine that it has been chosen as Europe’s most beautiful beach.

Our Swedish friends Sebbe and Mio, who has an apartment in Nice, often go to Plage l´Escalet, located near Ramatuelle. We have been there ourselves and it is absolutely fantastic.
