Shopping & Markets
The outdoor markets are very common in Provence. Almost every village has its own market day and they all takes place in the mornings, usually they close about 12.30 pm. In the markets you can find everything from food, fruits and vegetables to fabrics, clothes and handcraft. In Rians there´s markets both Friday and Saturday. The market in Aix-en-Provence is one of our favorites and a perfect daytrip where you of course stay for a long, French lunch afterwards.
Although you can find nice shopping areas in the markets, the small villages and towns like Cassis and Bandol, the real shopping of course takes place in the big cities – Marseille, Aix-en-Provence and Nice.
Besides the things above there are so much more to discover. Of course there are vineyards practically all over Provence and everyone offers tasting and sales of their wines. There are so many exquisite producers but because of the fact that Victoria has worked for seven years at the nearby Chateau Vignelaure, of course that´s closest to our hearts. They make the most fantastic wines in every color and it´s also possible to get a guided tour where you can see and learn all about their winemaking.
In Provence you can also visit producers of olive oil, ceramics, fabrics and so on – again, the list is almost endless.
